What a beautiful day for getting out and doing a bit of operating … NOT!
Pretty nasty day, isn’t it? I did make a few contacts after I got home this afternoon (from the shack) … 40 Meters was really the only band open, so the day was not a total bust. Ah, well … there’s always tomorrow!

Really a booming evening on FT8. I even had a couple of QSOs on the 6o meter band. Forty meters was the most productive.
As you can see, there was a whole lot of propagatin’ goin’ on!

Where I was heard
Well, I did a bit of fiddlin’ with WSPR-X this evening. Here’s the results …
I was transmitting 5 watts, using a 31-ft vertical. If you’re more interested in how WSPR-X works, it’s one of the modes included in W1JT’s WSJT-X ver. 1.8.0 software. WSPR is explained at http://wsprnet.org.

I didn’t have much time for radio this weekend, but I did find the higher bands were still alive. I had a couple of contacts on 17m FT8 and did hear some stations on 10m SSB.
Just goes to show ya that there is still a bit of life left “up there.” I wonder how often the band is actually open, but quiet because nobody is there? Hmmm. Maybe we ought to try more often?

More snow expected tonight … only 1 or 2 inches (2.5 to 5 cm) this time. But … you never know. Schools were delayed two hours this morning due to freezing fog and low visibility.
Not much to report for last weekend … had too many non-radio projects, and most of my hamming was watching YouTube videos from ham contributors.
